Choose a desk that fits your day.
Start with the room, then the way you work.
Measure the room and access route
Record the available width and depth, including skirting boards, radiators and sockets. Check doorways, stairs and lifts. Think about the working space behind the chair and whether nearby drawers and doors can open.
Plan the desktop
List the equipment you need: screens, monitor arms, keyboard, laptop, telephone and paperwork. Check both desktop width and depth, and confirm that monitor-arm clamps and accessories suit the chosen top.
Choose fixed or adjustable height
A fixed-height desk offers a straightforward setup. A height-adjustable desk gives a range of working positions. Check the actual height range, controls and load specification of the selected model, including the weight of equipment.
Coordinate storage and cables
Check that a pedestal fits beneath the desk without restricting legroom or the frame. For cable trays, screens and CPU holders, verify range compatibility and fixing positions rather than choosing by appearance alone.
